Meet The Team

John is the founder and Managing Director of IRONWOOD Capital Partners, a New York based investment firm with experience in institutional capital markets, private equity, VCs, family offices and UHNWs, with a focus on raising capital and project finance across the supply chain related to renewable energy, decarbonization and climatetech, as well as the cannabis and related CPG industries.

In addition, he has extensive experience as founder of REALGOLDX Global Corp, a physical gold trading company; founder of Amazing Technology Corp, a hedge fund backed Oracle partner that raised US$34.5 million and in less than 24 months grew to 1000+ customers and employees in 30+ countries in emerging markets; founder and COO of ICON Capital Reserve SA, a company that has fused distributed ledgers, cryptography and physical gold bullion to create a platform for UHNWs and family offices to preserve and exchange intergenerational wealth digitally and privately.

 

He also co-founded RightSignature, an esignature company that sold to Citrix Systems in 2014.

Mark has a 30-year history of applied technical business development and entrepreneurship, capital sourcing as a registered FINRA agent, and technical recruiting in legacy energy through the firm he founded in 2008, Impact 20 Group.  There, he developed a methodology to source, vet, and onboard qualified targets, a process that served as a natural predecessor to the methodology used in vetting of technology funding deals prospects.

He worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in corporate & operational in finance in Mexico City, Bethesda and Dallas.  After receiving his mechanical engineering degree, he became the Technical Manager of EMSCOR, a manufacturer of rack & pinion industrial elevators in Houston.  He directed a series of entrepreneurial ventures in Budapest, Hungary and Washington, DC, prior to accepting an executive role with the US public internet firm, Intermost Corporation in Shenzhen, China. Most recently, Mark successfully sourced & vetted a $15.5mm Series A biotech deal that closed May 2024 (press release pending), and has vetted pursued hundreds of clean energy technology start-ups, performing technical and economic evaluations as to their market potential.
